Unity Monthly Meeting has a long and distinguished history.
The historic structure dates from around 1775 and is the oldest known Quaker-related structure in Philadelphia. Part of its history includes its role as an underground railroad sight and one of the few locations at which enslaved people were allowed to be buried.

Unity Monthly Meeting’s most recent active member, Carol Clark, passed away in 2023. Before then she maintained the Quaker witness in the area with activities such youth programs and cooking classes that were highly regarded by community members. In October of 2024, Ujima Friends Peace Center decided to revive Unity Meeting and relocate its operations to the Unity Meeting site, maintaining its Quaker identity and serving the Frankford and the North Philadelphia communities.

At the present time, the meeting house portion of the property suffers from many years of deferred maintenance. It is no longer structurally sound and remains closed from occupants until it is rehabilitated. Once improvements are completed, the newly constituted Unity Monthly Meeting, will begin worshipping and witnessing at the sight.
